Dr Melissa Acreman
About Me
Dr Melissa Acreman is a specialist Obstetrician & Gynaecologist based on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.
She trained at a variety of south-east Queensland Hospitals including world renowned Mater Mothers Hospital. More recently, Dr Mel completed her advanced training at Sunshine Coast University Hospital where she currently holds a Staff Specialist position.
Dr Mel is a true generalist, with the ability to provide management for obstetrics and gynaecological conditions through all stages of life. She has completed advanced training in Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy, Pelvic Floor disorders and Colposcopy, and is a competent physician as well as a meticulous surgeon. You can feel confident with Dr Mel, knowing she has both the knowledge and experience to give you the highest quality care.
As a long-term high achiever, Dr Mel was awarded the gold medal for both the RANZCOG written and oral examinations. She believes in using her skills to help others and was the RANZCOG Queensland Trainee Representative, supporting trainees and contributing to the development of the college. Dr Acreman is a renowned clinical educator, coordinating the Griffith University Medical Student education, and volunteering as a facilitator of the Amare AIMS course. She also regularly presents at education days for Midwives, GP’s, Neonatal nurses and co-ordinates the RANZCOG registrar education days.
In her spare time, Dr Mel hosts popular medical education podcast ‘The Uterine Sound’, an obstetrics and gynaecology podcast aimed at providing the latest medical information for doctors, midwives and specialists working in women’s health.
Dr Mel consults at Coastal IVF in Maroochydore and Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital in Kawana. She performs surgeries at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Sunshine Coast Day Surgery and provides pregnancy care and deliveries at Buderim Private Hospital.
When she’s not working, you can find Dr Mel at the beach, spending time with family or walking her cheeky German Shepherd - Lexa!
